From Logan and Veronica all the way down to Clarence Wiedman, the full cast of Veronica Mars will be returning for the new webseries. Get all of the casting news here.
We’re heading back to Neptune! Today, BuzzFeed announced exclusively that almost the complete original cast of the beloved show Veronica Mars would be returning for the upcoming webseries.
When the series, titled Play It Again, Dick, was announced months ago we didn’t have too much information on it. Today, however, we have the full plot as well as all the returning cast members.
BuzzFeed described the series and Kristen Bell’s character as “a webseries [revolving] around a fictional Veronica Mars spin-off that Hansen has ‘written’ as a star-vehicle for himself. Like almost everyone involved, Bell plays a slightly skewed version of herself who has — begrudgingly — agreed to reprise her role as the titular sleuth for Hansen’s spin-off.”
Here are the returning actors and their respective roles:
Based on this information we have a few things to note. Firstly, Duncan is back! But… Teddy Dunn is not. Instead, Duncan will be played by Ryan Devlin (who previously played Mercer Hayes in season 3). We wonder if they will address this change or just pretend like it doesn’t matter that it is two different actors. Most importantly, we wonder if Mercer will breathe some life into the previously dull character.
We also can’t ignore the fact that Beaver Casablancas is on this list. How will he return in Dick’s alternate universe? But no Mac, which is extremely upsetting.
Finally, it’s important to point out that some actors are only coming back as one character. Both Chris Lowell and Ken Marino will only being playing their real selves while Amanda Noret and Lisa Thronhill will reprise their roles as Madison Sinclair and Celeste Kane respectively.
The last bit of news that was revealed was that we will be getting two new characters. Robert Buckley (One Tree Hill) is set to play a “flamboyant choreographer” named Gaston who replaces Jason Dohring as Logan Echolls. Rose McIver (Once Upon a Time) has no name but is instead referred to as both “Skank with Attitude” and “Horny Mourner” in Dick’s world.
All we can say is we’re into it. Very, very into it.
What are your thoughts on the upcoming webseries?
Play It Again, Dick premieres the week of Sept. 15 on CW Seed.
