Enrico Colantoni foresees the trainee overcoming the master P.I. after the events of the Veronica Mars movie.
At first, Colantoni was reluctant to admit to us Veronica’s prowess. When asked if V was a better P.I. than Keith, Colantoni said, “No, no way. Not yet. She can’t, she’s got too much to learn. The old man’s gotta die before she can take on the spirit of the warrior.”
Joking aside, Colantoni admitted, “I’m just saying that, she can do anything she wants better than the old man can do, but I’m holding onto that notion.” He added, “Have you seen the movie? She’s smarter than Keith. There, I said it.”
Speaking of the real-life father/daughter relationship he’s formed with Kristen Bell, Colantoni said, “You know what, off-screen I’m probably the biggest kid around. So it’s hard for me to look at her, who is a mom and is married and is so successful and sort of want to protect her in any way.”
Colantoni is proud of the woman Bell has matured into: “I’m just more proud of the fact that I saw her as a young girl, sort of wide-eyed and bushy tailed, and really blossom into this star. And to say that somehow, some way, we touched each other way back when; we used to be friends, a long time ago, you know what I mean?”
Francis Capra, who plays Weevil in Veronica Mars, dropped some interesting hints to Hypable about the future of the series.
Show creator Rob Thomas also spoke with Hypable about what fans can expect in the upcoming Veronica Mars novel Veronica Mars: The Thousand-Dollar Tan Line. In that interview, Thomas hinted at what could be the return of Duncan Kane.
